| From Jane, November 15, 2008: Hi Everyone - Make Note!! We are now
official. The only catch is that we have to participate! That's going to
be the fun part. Send your art and tips (to include painters, drawers,
photographers or Others with things of interest that want to share with
the group). We will take it all. If anyone has a better idea than the
title above, please use it. I thought about something with Klossner in it
but didn't come up with anything - using all our last names just seems to
cumbersome.
I have made a group folder for all of your continuing responses on my
computer so I can keep it all, including the attachments I know you are
going to send. When you respond, respond to "reply all" and then everyone
will stay in the loop.
So here I go with my contributions for today!
It was great seeing everyone this last weekend (except David Hilliard, who
did NOT get a deer and has now joined the group, and Jill Kearney) - I
wish you both had been able to be there. Jill is the daughter of Jenny
Ellingen and is eleven years old. She is interested in drawing.
Thanks to Jean for setting up all of the weekend festivities. It was
great fun and we mush keep it going.
Jill - check out the website from Cheryl - the Wisconsin Regional Artists
Association. Go the 2008 - Bridging Generations Youth Art Exhibit. You
will enjoy the children's art. Two of Cheryl's boys are shown in 2007 or
2006. You can probably Google children's art too and just see what comes
up. Have fun.
Cheryl - let us know what you did at your workshop this last week. I
think most of you have her website but here it is -
www.schoolofeclecticart. Check it out. It's amazing. It's really
fun to see the new directions Cheryl's art is going in.
Also Cheryl (and all the rest of you too) - check out artist Richard
McKinley's website. Your latest landscapes have the same translucency
that his do. McKinley also has a blog on the Pastel Journal website that
is full of interesting information - including some really great art
(meaning photography etc too) principles. Give it a look. I took a week
long workshop from him - he's fantastic.
For the watercolorists - Cheryl and Patty - Google artist Jeanne
Carbonetti - and if all the rest of you want a gorgeous the colorful
experience, you Google too. She is wonderful and also has several
interesting books. Her work just makes me so happy. The internet has
almost every artist, photographer, creative genre in the world.. It's just
amazing. Also check out Karen Knutson, MN watercolorist. She has an
exhibit at the MN Arboretum until Jan. Minnesotans - take a field trip
down there and see her work. Patty, get your watercolors out to us soon.
I am not very up to speed on photographers except Ansell Adams so we'll
have to depend on Rick, Cathy and David to check that out and send us in
the right direction. I have heard of Annie Leibowitz but don't know much
about her photography. If you photographers (that probably includes the
rest of us too) have any info or photos to share, send them out for all to
enjoy.
For the drawing people (Jean, Jill - and secretly David), Drawing Scenery:
landscapes and seascapes by Jack Hamm is a good book. It will help you
with most things you might want to draw. There are lots of other good
adult and children drawing books at the bookstore or library - so have a
look. Drawing is so much fun.
I'm looking forward to all the responses. There is no email length
requirement. This email is kind of long but it's just a kickoff to you
all. Quick, brief emails are great too. Don't want anyone stressing out
- just respond when you're in the mood. Questions or comments or other
forms of art (which really includes writing and music or anything else
creative) are welcome too.
Please let me know if you got this - so I know if the emails are correct.
I'll send a visual soon.
Have a great day, Jane
